The book signing went very well. I was nervous (naturally) and John (the husband) said I looked a little nervous, but not terribly. My one daughter was there, and thank God she was, as she took care of book sales, which happened before the reading and not after. People just kept putting their hand out, so … hey… thank you.
We had 15 people show up, a couple after the presentation, but that’s okay too, just glad they made the effort to come out as it was a nasty wet night to be out.  I was pleased to see that many. For awhile I thought it was a Hathaway reunion (friends from the shirt factory (now closed) were prevalent.

Most surprising was walking into the empty meeting room to set up and seeing John McDonald sitting in a chair reading the paper. He was my older sister’s boyfriend way back in the late 60′s. He also was the man who taught me to ride a bike in 1967, so imagine my surprise.  Way back then he knew I needed a way to get back and forth to my part-time job, found the Honda 50 cc Dream for me, and got me started. There was a bit of a time warp thing going on there… felt weird for a few minutes.  He still rides, keeps a 30 year old Norton that has 180,000 miles on it (not kms.) and is a member of the Cow Paddy Boyz, an Eastern Ontario Motorcycle Club.

The presentation went well, people were impressed by my friend Flo and her experiences. Someone asked about how the idea came about. Another asked who did the maps… moi…a few laughs, a few stories of the past. Over-all, a good experience.

The book “Wind In My Face” is by Canadian author Dorothy Bush aka Bikerhen, and is focused on female motorcycle riders. The book should be interesting to female riders in Canada, specially those who are just beginning.

Another big portion of the book covers motorcycle rides & routes in Canada; where to go and what to expect.

The remainder is a guide for beginners; what the wear, how to get your license, buying your first motorcycle. She also has several pages of biker terms and slang.

The first half of the book introduces with many different Canadian female motorcycle riders, who they are, what they ride, and what drives them to ride. It’s meant to be inspirational to aspiring riders. Dorothy covers all age groups and motorcycle styles, a real cross-section.

Price: eBook $14.95 Paperback $23.70
